天城制药的派遣社员·佐藤唯（松井爱莉饰）因为爱犬死亡的悲伤，在酒吧里喝酒。与一个前来搭话的男子产生争执。没想到该名男子正是公司社长天城恭一（速水直道饰）。第二天，被社长叫去的唯，抱着被炒鱿鱼的觉悟来到了办公室。但是天城却对她说，“请把我当成奴隶”。。The story takes us back to 1889, in the wake of primary school teacher Louise Violet who is sent to a village in the French countryside to enforce Republic schooling (which is free, compulsory and secular).
